Bios update for MSI K9A2 Platinum Socket v1.0 in Vista

I was stymied by my inability to flash my bios on the MSI: MS-7376-010 motherboard. The online software failed on install and the instructions for a dos installation involved a floppy or a CD.
So how to Flash?

1) First I got a Dos 6.22 bootable cd image. Look here: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
2) I burned this to Cd using Nero 9 but there are free iso image burners out there.

Here’s where I stalled. I needed to get the Bios Update file that I downloaded from the MSI website on the cd. Or so I thought. I tried finding a free iso editing software with no luck. I just refused to pay the $30 for a one time use. As I sat wondering what to do, I saw my flash drive.

3) I copied the DOS utility and the bios bin file to my flash drive.
4) I then booted from Cd. First I had to set the bios to boot from cd. Then I inserted the cd and restarted.
dos came up. At the A: prompt, I typed c:.

5) My flash drive which was connected directly to a computer USB port came up as C:

6) I typed in the name of the .EXE followed by name of the Bin file at the c:
Looked like this.

c: AFUD4310 A7376AMS.190

9) After it was finished , a few minutes, I used Ctrl-Alt-Delete to restart.

The machine restarted better than ever. The new bios was great and allowed me to OC.

Hope this helps and God Bless
